Style Round Up

It's a "Clo Thing" Style Round Up

Hi dolls, Welcome to my little blog post where I am going to do a quick recap on a few of my casual/dressy looks over the past year.

I have gained some new followers over the past few months, which I am so thrilled about!! so I thought a quick style round up would be the perfect blog post to show you girls my personal style. I am obsessed with fashion and have a huge interest in styling, I just love the excitement of putting together an outfit!! Some find it stressful but its my favourite part. I love looking for different and unique pieces to make an outfit perfect for that party or special occasion.

Not all of you are going to like my style and that's perfectly fine. Everyone's taste is different especially when it comes to fashion.

So here is a little taste of my style..

1. My Graduation

Dress: Runaway Bride
Heels: Penneys

For my Graduation I decided to wear this dress as I fell in love with it as soon as I walked in to Runaway Bride!! I just knew it was exactly what I was looking for, something appropriate for the ceremony yet nice to wear out later that night. The nude slip with the stunning lace overlay was perfect & the sleeve detail really brought out that bit of elegance to the over all look.

2. Casual Night Out

Jeans: New Look
Top: Topshop
Heels: Penneys

This look was for a casual night out so of course I opted for my highwasted black skinny jeans. A girl can never have enough. I decided to wear them with a plain white off the shoulder crop top with a small frill detail. As the outfit I chose was quite plain I opted for my sparkly barely there heels to complete the look.

3. The Irish Beauty Show

Top: Penneys
Trousers: Missguided
Sandals: Forever 21

The Irish Beauty Show was held in the RDS in Dublin earlier this year. Read all about it here (Link to blog post) Myself and the girls decided to head up along to make the most out of a girly day out. The day was so enjoyable, we met some incredible bloggers and of course made time for some shopping!! As it was a long day packed with demos, stalls and a lot of people I decided to go super casual and made sure I wore something comfortable. I went for these pale pink trousers along with my go to little black jumper from Penney's, I just knew my fringed Forever 21 sandals would go perfect then to complete the look.

4. My Cousins Communion

Top: New Look
Jacket: Penneys
Skirt: New Look
Shoes: Penneys

I put this look together as we were invited to the meal for my little cousins communion. As it was during the summer I opted for a skirt and top. I went with this navy pleated skirt along with the razor cut white crop top, I matched these with the patterned croped jacket and gorgeous navy/flowered flats.

5. Pippa's Fashion Factory

Top: Penneys
Skirt: Topshop
Boots: Shoe Rack

So one of my besties treated me with tickets to Pippa O' Connors Fashion Factory in the Seafield Hotel in Gorey. As this is a day dedicated to style, fashion, demos, tips and tricks I knew I wanted to wear something stylish/different. So this is the look I went for. My top gives that illusion of layering as it looks like I have a crisp white shirt on with a crop jumper over, when in fact it is the one item. Im obsessed with this piece. I then paired it with a cute mini skirt from Topshop and some killer over the knee boots from Shoe Rack, of course adding my YSL clutch to bring the look together.

6. Irish Blog Awards

Dress: Runaway Bride
Heels: Steve Madden

I was so excited to attended The Irish Blog Awards this year. It was such an amazing experience and one I wont forget. As this is a bloggers event I knew the style would be amazing!! So I popped into Sarah in Runaway Bride as I knew she would sort me out with a perfect dress for the night. As the dress was black I decided to wear my yellow fringed Steve Madden heels to brightening the look up.

7. Longitude Festival

Lace Trim Bralet: Missguided
Backless Knitted Dress: Missguided
Shorts: Penney's
Belt: Opsh

I was like a big child choosing my outfit for Longitude!! When it comes to festivals you can really wear anything. The knitted dress I wore from Missguided was actually a beach dress, I thought it was different & that it would look nice over the bralet and shorts I had bought. I then added the snapback and jewels to complete the look.

8. Birthday Outfit

Crop Top: Topshop
High Wasted Jeans: Topshop
Sequin Cami: Asos
Heels: Penneys

So as my Birthday was approaching this year I was on the hunt for something nice. All of us girls like to try that little bit harder when it comes to choosing our birthday outfits. I opted for the colour white as I am obsessed & think it stands out against a nice dark tan!! I celebrated my 21st the year before and wore a white suit (see in right column above), so I think I seen a trend forming haha!
The sequin cami was the key piece to this look.

So there you have it, a round up of my style so far this year.
I hope you enjoyed it.

Trend Watch: Double Denim

Denim on Denim

Double Denim is a trend that has been around for quite some time now. Some people don't like the idea of denim on denim but when styled right it can be amazing!! I can honestly say this trend is a huge favorite of mine, once worn right.

I feel this is a trend that would suit different body shapes and sizes, as it's all about the pieces you choose to wear. When it comes to doubling up on denim don't be afraid to pair different shades together, it doesn't matter if the wash or colours are completely different. The last thing you want is to look too matchy! So for example, wearing dark coloured denim bottoms with a light washed denim shirt/jacket.

*Always Remember* Light shades of denim tend to draw attention to the area they cover, while darker shades of denim create that slimmer effect.

So there's a little tip to remember when putting your denim look together. Everyone will be different as it depends on the body type.

Most double denim looks are created by wearing slim and baggy pieces together, again this will vary from person to person. Make sure the outfit suits your shape, for example, wearing slim denim jeans with a loose fitting shirt or vice versa. There is also some of you that will get way with wearing slim denim on both bottom and top!!

With denim there is so much variety and combinations. Jeans, skirts, shorts, jackets, shirts, crop tops & dungarees. Mix and match these pieces to create your outfit while keeping all the above in mind. If your not brave enough to wear just denim, don't be afraid to break it up with a print shirt or jacket. As you can see in some of the photos below...

I had Tweeted a few weeks ago about denim on denim after seeing it take over the streets of Paris during Paris Fashion Week. I knew immediately that the trend was making its way back, and being such a fan of it I was only delighted.

Celebrities seem to love this trend also, with the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez & Vanessa Hudgens stepping out head to toe in Double Denim. Pictures below..

Jlo, Kim, Vanessa

So go on, grab all your denim bits and start putting those outfits together. If your brave enough go ahead and triple denim!! You can put that denim jacket over your denim shirt and jeans, just remember to keep the shades different!

Until next time,
Chloe xx

What I Got Up To Yesterday

The Irish Beauty Show

So as most of you already know, yesterday I attended the Irish Beauty Show with two of my friends. Believe it or not this was actually my first time attending the show. So as you can imagine I was so excited to go up and have a look around. The ultimate girls day out.

The show lasts for two days (Sunday the 13th of March & Monday the 14th) with some of the most recognised names in the beauty industry. The day is full of inspiring demos and seminar stages where you get the chance to interact and learn more about makeup, hair, tanning and nails etc. Another benefit of attending the show is how much you save on products with over 350 brands offering different promo's, discounts and offers.

So here's what I got up to for the day..

What I Wore

Top - Pennys
Trousers - Missguided (last year)
Fringe Sandals - Forever 21

I didn't have the time to go shopping for an outfit to wear so instead I rooted through my wardrobe to see what I could put together. I opted for something comfortable as I knew the day would involve a lot of walking and standing around.

A lot of you asked me where I got my trousers as soon as I posted the picture. Unfortunately I actually bought these off Missguided last year, but they do have some similar styles here (Missguided Link).  So anyway, I took a quick outfit picture and headed off to meet the girls.

Meeting Familiar Faces

I was delighted to finally meet Marissa Carter, Faces by Grace and James Patrice!! Sure of course I had to ask for some photos. I don't have a photo with James Patrice as he kindly did one of his famous videos on my snapchat for you all. The man is hilarious.

Snapchat Names...

Marissa Carter: cartermarissa
Grace Mongey: facesbygrace23
James Butler: jamespatrice
Myself: itsaclothing

There were plenty more familiar faces throughout the day, but most of them were taking part in demos or selling products.

My Purchases

So the first thing I picked up was the SoSu Contour Palette!!

I didn't think the palettes were going to be on sale at the stand yesterday, as I thought Suzanne had mentioned they were low on stock in previous snaps. As soon as I realised they were actually for sale I just had to get one. When it comes to my makeup I am obsessed with a good foundation and contour base. Plus my current contour palette was running low.

My second purchase was these two Blank Canvas Brushes. I picked up the F20 and F21 to help apply my new SoSu Contour Palette & my everyday Foundation. The brushes feel so soft and I thought the pink and green handles were cute.

Some Food and Browsing

After the Beauty Show we headed over to the Dundrum Shopping Center to grab a bite to eat. We were so hungry, and of course we couldn't resist Eddie Rockets.

On our way back to the car we found ourselves wondering into shops for a 'quick look'. Topshop, Pennys, Zara etc. One piece in particular caught my eye, I stumbled across this blazer dress in Zara and fell in love with it!! The picture is not great as there is a top underneath, but you get the idea.

So that was what I got up to yesterday.

To those of you heading up to the show today, enjoy!! If you have any questions about the Irish Beauty Show message me or comment below.

Festival Style

Braids, Prints, Henna Tattoo's, Accessories, Footwear & Outfits

As the festival season is in full swing and electric picnic is on it's way!! I decided to do up this post to help you girls get some ideas as to what to wear, and how to accessories.

For any of you that are lucky enough to have tickets for electric picnic this year, first of all I am so jealous!! Secondly I hope this posts helps you with your outfit ideas.

I am obsessed with the festival style!! & each year it just gets better and better. So here is a few trendy bits I would pick up/do if I was attending this year.

1.  Hair Styles

Braids, Plaits, Waves, Curls & Top Knots whatever suits you best go for it, because all of these hair styles would be perfect for the festival season! Messy hairstyles rather than anything set looking.

2. Hats and Head Pieces

Grab a few headpieces to bring along! Flowery head pieces, Snapbacks, Fedora Hats and Head Jewellery seem to be bang on trend, so whatever suits your style or matches your outfit the most go for it, these can really make the difference to your festival look!

3. Henna & Stick on Tats

Could you get any more festively? I think this is a great little idea!! Go on, get some henna done with your friends for the weekend occasion or buy yourselves some stick on tats from Pennys, New Look or Sam McCauleys.

4. Over Accessorise!! The More The Better..

Put on as much feathers, rings, bracelets & watches as you like! Layering jewellery for a festival is perfectly fine! So root through that old jewellery box and find yourself some pieces to match your look.

5. Bags

You don't want a massive bag that you cant bring around with you or have to mind for the whole thing. Bring a small backpack, side bag or bum bag that you can keep on you at all times with your few bits in it.

6. Footwear - Boots, Sandals, Runners or Wellies

Wear something comfortable on your feet, something you don't mind getting destroyed and something you wont mind throwing out afterwards!! Dont spend a fortune on footwear, go find some old sandals or boots and decorate them yourself! Wellies can be ugly but above the picture shows what a bit of DIY can do to make them look perfect for the occasion.

7. Outfit Ideas

Wear whatever you want girls!! Everyone's style is going to be different, Above I just have some style inspiration to help you decide.

Oversized Dresses & T-Shirts, Crop Tops, Shorts, Long Skirts, Dungarees, Kimonos, Lace, Tassels, Gladiator, Layering etc. Dont forget your sunnies ladies, grab yourself a pair of sunglasses and your set to go!!

I will be posting pictures of Festival Outfits to It's a "Clo Thing" over the next week, as were coming up to the event. Keep an eye out for some inspiration.

Also a Quick Tip Before I Go..

If the forecast is giving rain!! Buy yourself a see-through poncho coat/jacket! You know the ones you see at the concerts. That way your outfit will still be seen while your staying dry ;)

Hope this helps girls!! Enjoy Electric Picnic you lot, I'm so jealous!!
